We are thrilled to announce yet another go-live, with plenty more upcoming!

It’s been as busy as ever at Pentagull this year and we are thrilled to announce yet another go-live, with plenty more upcoming! Hertfordshire County Council, an existing customer with our Weighbridge & Asbestos Bookings, have recently gone live with our HWRC Permit system with DVLA.

Hertfordshire County Council required a concise and intuitive digital ePass system for residents to attend their 16 HWRC sites. After a few months of hard work, that’s exactly what we created! The permit application form requires the resident to provide their vehicle registration, type of vehicle and address.

This permit system includes a DVLA look-up, allowing the make, colour, year of manufacture and fuel type to be determined from the registration entered on the form. These details are then displayed back to the resident on the permit application so they can check they provided the correct vehicle registration. The make and colour are particularly useful for the site staff as it provides additional information to help them identify the cars that turn up on site.

Hertfordshire County Council have also seen a huge benefit from the extensive reports that the system offers. These include a count of permits created by vehicle type, a count of permits created per district, the total number of authorised visits in a specified time period and many more.

We are still working hard with Hertfordshire to roll-out an ANPR expansion on this recent release. The ANPR cameras will pick-up the vehicles as they arrive on site to any of the 16 recycling centres. HCC site staff will have access to a custom permit-checker dashboard, allowing them to identify & record DIY waste and deduct visits from the remaining allowance for permitted vehicles.

Waste Fridge
When waste rules change, Pentagulls flexible HWRC booking systems make the difference.

The current shortage of specialist treatment capacity for fridges and freezers is creating a difficult situation for councils across the UK. With processing capacity severely constrained, some councils have had to suspend collections, limit the number of cooling appliances residents can bring to HWRCs, or stop accepting them altogether. For residents, the message is simple: the rules have changed. For councils, however, changing the rules is only the beginning. They also need an effective way to communicate those changes to residents and manage what happens when people arrive at an HWRC
