Helping to spread a little Christmas cheer

It’s getting to Christmas time and that means it's time to find a good cause to spread a little cheer.

Over the years we have done a few different things but where possible we try to aim our help at children, and we like to send actual things instead of just money.

After the disruptions to similar schemes caused by Covid the last couple of years we knew we wanted to do a gift scheme again so when I saw Dunelm Mills Delivering Joy campaign, we were excited!

They have a Christmas tree set up in each store and on it are gift tags. Each one offers an insight into who will receive your gift and as they’re all local residents of that store, you’ll be bringing joy to someone nearby. You simply go to the store and pick the tags you want to fulfil, get, or make a gift and then return it to the store in a gift bag for them to give to the person who needs it.

The beauty of this is that because Dunelm are nationwide anyone and everyone can get involved by going to their local store. I have to say I loved doing it again as did my son and the thought of making some little faces smile on Christmas day is heart-warming.

So, if you are looking for something to do or your company doesn’t do something yet and you need an idea to push them into it or if you want to do it for yourself consider taking part in the campaign and help make someone’s Christmas a little bit more magical this year.

Thank you to Dunelm for running the initiative and thank you to Smyths Toy store in Blackpool for helping find gift bags to fit our gifts!

Waste Fridge
When waste rules change, Pentagulls flexible HWRC booking systems make the difference.

The current shortage of specialist treatment capacity for fridges and freezers is creating a difficult situation for councils across the UK. With processing capacity severely constrained, some councils have had to suspend collections, limit the number of cooling appliances residents can bring to HWRCs, or stop accepting them altogether. For residents, the message is simple: the rules have changed. For councils, however, changing the rules is only the beginning. They also need an effective way to communicate those changes to residents and manage what happens when people arrive at an HWRC
