- Fruitful partnerships - Reaping the benefits of collaboration

Date: Thursday, 10 May 2012
Venue: Palace Hotel, Manchester

An extremely useful and insightful iNetwork summer conference. The Pentagull team were kept busy for most of day with enquiries from a number of public and private organisations including discussions with an acting chief executive from one of the AGMA Authorities. This is definitely one for diary for next year.

- SOCITM - North West Regional Meeting

Date: Wednesday 18th April 2012
Venue: Central Manchester

An very interesting and valuable event. Although the attendance was low and Paul Green had to do the work of 4 speakers, the day was excellent with Paul covering Information Management and how this has been approached at Sheffield, while David Hunter covered new agile ways of working at Salford and the challenges facing AGMA with implementing the shared IT plan.

A number of new contacts were made with Local Councils (Preston, Lancaster and Wirral) and a number of old contacts were re-engaged. Paul Green did a fabulous job considering the position he was put in – well done.

- Inside Government - Agile in London

Date: Wednesday 7th December 2011
Venue: Central London

With the acknowledgement that over £16 billion was spent on ICT in the public sector in 2008/09, the government's ICT Strategy, published 30th March 2011, aims to deliver better public services for less cost, through the application of 'agile' ICT delivery methods. Agile means adopting an approach to IT that emphasises flexibility, responsiveness to change and innovation.

The Institute of Government’s 'System Error: fixing the flaws in government IT' report, (March 2011) advocates an ‘agile’ IT solution that can bring the government various benefits, including cost and time savings, whilst delivering more effective and flexible services. These benefits were highlighted in the Institute for Government's sponsored agile IT project in the Metropolitan police.

Phil Baron, Managing Director of Pentagull was one of the keynote speakers at the event.
